For More Information Contact: Bryan Wendorf, Festival Director For those of you who do not know, no-budget filmmaking legend Doris Wishman – referred to by many as the “Queen of Exploitation” – passed away this past weekend. The recipient of last year¹s Lifetime Achievement award, we had been looking forward to the possibility that Doris might make the trek back to CUFF for the Midwestern premiere of her latest completed film, Dildo Heaven, when we were stunned to receive the news of her unexpected demise.

As a self-taught writer, director, producer and editor, Doris’ 29 films make her one of the most prolific female filmmakers in the history of cinema. A career which covered everything from nudist camps to penis transplants, from Sammy Petrillo to Chesty Morgan, makes Doris one of the underground’s most enduring and beloved auteurs. We cannot express how saddened we are at her passing and how grateful we are to have known her.

For this reason, the 9th Annual Chicago Underground Film Festival will be dedicated to the memory of our friend and inspiration, Doris Wishman.

Please join us as we celebrate her life and career at the Midwestern premiere of her very unconventional sex-comedy, Dildo Heaven. Friends and crew members will be on hand to share memories of working with Doris and pre-screening fun will be provided courtesy of the show’s sponsor, Early 2 Bed.
