CUFF Opening Night Party

DJ’s Kent Lambert and Mark Wright will vj us away!

Kent Lambert and Mark Wright met in Video Art class at the University of Iowa. They were once roommates and they played together in an early incarnation of the band Roommate. They share a weakness for easy listening and spy jazz records as well as other forms of sophisticated party music. They look forward to partying with you.

Bad Lit has a write up on this years festival.

“The Chicago Underground Film Festival is always a special occasion, but the 17th edition of this venerable institution, which runs on June 24 – July 1, is a little bit extra special. This year, CUFF will be honoring the lifelong underground film champion Jonas Mekas with their Lifetime Achievement Award!

Mekas will be in attendance at the festival at will appear at several screenings in his honor. On the 25th, there will be a screening of the new documentary Visionaries: Jonas Mekas and the (Mostly) American Avant-Garde, at which director Chuck Workman, Mekas and underground film historian Fred Camper will participate in a Q&A. Then, on the 26th, several of Mekas’ own films will screen and he’ll be presented with his award.”

Gene Siskel Film Center Gallery: June 4th – Jul y 18th 2010

The Chicago Underground Film Festival has been sharing unique, odd, offensive, striking and beautiful moving images for almost two decades. In celebration of another year jam-packed with international and intriguing gems, we bring you the wall-hanging, two-dimensional and simply immobile work of some of CUFF’s beloved filmmakers, animators, video artists, CUFF photographers, and fellow Underground Festers. Because of what we do, billions of images pass before our eyes all the time. And, believe it or not, every once in a while, we press pause.

Artists include: Jon Satrom, Alexander Stewart, James Fotopoulos, Deborah Stratman, Lilli Carre, Robert Todd, Michael Robinson, Lisa Barcy, Ray Pride and Ross Nugent.

Also including a retrospective CUFF poster wall!
